Why I want laser tattoo removal
I kind of was kind of regretting having tattoos and I was considering removing them, but I heard it was expensive and painful so I just figured I’d put if off for a while. That is until I found out that the tattoos were a make or break issue for my girlfriend and her family. We were getting serious and that gave me the extra motivation I needed.
I found myself searching the internet to find some information. A lot of what I read scared me. I kept seeing the average astronomical prices and then kept reading about how the pain was incredibly worse than getting the tattoo in the first place. This was not very comforting. I found myself searching all over for some options, but the information I found was piecemeal and seemed like there were many variables involved. It seemed like I’d have to schedule a consultation with each place; which would only be another obstacle to getting my tattoos removed.
One day while searching on google I came across DermBids. I thought the idea was brilliant and I send my tattoo picture right away. I also liked that there was a lot of good information about tattoo removal featured on their website. It was even easier than I thought. Later that day I received an email from DermBids asking about my budget. As I found out, DermBids would try to find places that would work within my budget which I thought was especially helpful.
A few days later I received some quotes from a few different places; some of which I had never even heard of and would have never found on my own via my previous internet searches. DermBids definitely helped me streamline my search so I could find the right place for me.
One of the places listed, Vamoose Tattoo Removal, declined to give an estimate without seeing the tattoo, but they were listed there anyway because they offer package deals. I was intrigued about the package deals and this place was quite close to my apartment so ended up scheduling a consultation there.
My First Session
I remember being super nervous. I walked inside and the place [Vamoose Tattoo Removal] looked very new and clean. The staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions that I had. I was informed of everything about the removal process, what I should expect (including the aftercare) and some possible unlikely adverse effects.
My tattoos have a lot of color and it may take 10-15 treatments to be fully removed. They also recommended to split up my tattoos (remove one at a time), because they cover such a large area and there are so many colors involved. After consulting with them, I signed up for a package deal and got the first laser treatment the same day. I was given an ice pack before the laser was started, but nothing else.
They offered an anesthetic cream, but as I found out no one had asked for it yet. I didn’t want to be the first. This made me think it might not be so bad…and it really wasn’t. The laser felt no more painful than the needles when I got my tattoo done. The big difference is that the laser treatment took minutes, while the actual tattoo took hours. Granted I will have to go back for several more sessions, because there are a lot of colors in my tattoo, I no longer feel nervous about it now that I know it’s not that bad.
I received my first session 8 days ago and the healing process was nothing like I had expected. I thought the healing part would be the worst of it. My skin didn’t blister or scar or anything like that. It felt very sore right after the laser treatment, but I was given an ice pack to put on it which made it feel much better. Maybe its because I was aggressive with icing it afterwards, but the inflammation never got to be that bad.
The next day it felt like a sunburn and the pain went away gradually over the next day or two. I was told to use lots of moisturizer to keep it from drying out and thats what I’ve been doing. It occasionally itches, but I just add some moisturizer and it feels fine. Vamoose called me a few days after my first laser treatment to check up with me and see how I was doing. I thought this was really great and it’s nice to know they care and are there for me incase I’m having any issues with the removal process.
I scheduled my laser treatments at 4 week intervals. I didn’t notice a difference after the first treatment, but I figured it would likely take a couple before I start to see any difference. I’m happy I found DermBids and I’m happy DermBids was able to help me out in this process. I have a long way to go, but its good to know I’m on my way to finally getting rid of my tattoos and I no longer feel nervous or scared about the process.
